The 2010’s KCSU’s Reestablishment
Throughout our years of operating as an independent organization, by May of 2013, KCSU and the rest of RMSMC moved out of the Lory Student Center (LSC) during its construction and into an off-campus location at the corner of College and Laurel. This move was extremely challenging – being off-campus impeded recruitment opportunities because RMSMC has limited and restricted access to the campus community. The Plaza was also under construction, so promotional activities were also stifled.
The following year, in September of 2014, KCSU and RMSMC returned to campus and now reside in the offices on the lower level of the LSC. Reestablishing the organization upon returning was a challenge due to the timing. RMSMC was originally supposed to move back in the summer, but construction took longer than expected, and the move occurred after school had already been in session for over a month. As a result, the program schedule was sparse because of missed key recruitment periods to get more volunteers.
In July of 2017, KCSU established our mission statement: The mission of KCSU is to train students to collaboratively operate a radio station that creates and delivers content that informs and inspires our listeners.
