5) Charlotte Day Wilson – “Patchwork” (2026)

Contemporary R&B artist Charlotte Day Wilson hails from Toronto, Canada, where she has worked to shape the city’s sound since her 2012 EP “Palimpsest”. Inspired by classic motown, her childhood piano lessons, and GarageBand, Wilson has largely self-produced her work. Her multi-instrumentalist skills aided her in her collaborations with current R&B and jazz artists, such as Daniel Caesar and BADBADNOTGOOD. Her recent release, “Patchwork” is an EP that features jazzy harmonies and warm piano textures.
This week’s highlighted track, “High Road” is triumphant and full of swelling harmonies.
4) Annabelle Chairlegs – “Waking Up” (2026)

Sitting at the crossroads of vulnerability and electric performance, Annabelle Chairlegs is a rock ‘n roll quartet from Austin, Texas. Vocalist and guitarist Lindsey Mackin formulated the band from the ashes of her first group Treemotel, adding bassist Derek Vaughan Nunez Strahan, guitarist Nolan Potter, and drummer Nick Cornetti. The group’s psychedelic affectations originate with Mackin’s gritty Janis-Joplin-esque vocals backed up with instrumentation that switches between punk and pop.
This week’s selected track, “Concrete Trees” is ebullient, upbeat, and infused with a rock ‘n roll attitude.
3) By Storm – “My Ghosts Go Ghost” (2026)

Formerly known as Injury Reserve, experimental hip-hop duo By Storm formed in 2023 following the death of their bandmate Jordan Groggs. Based in Arizona, the group consists of RiTchie and Parker Corey. Their first release under the new name, “My Ghosts Go Ghost” is a full-length album that spans genres outside of abstract hip-hop, including jazz and psychedelia. The album was developed with the help of live performance and improvisation, the duo trying out new verses for the release during concerts.
This week’s chosen track, “And I Dance” is infused with elements of electronica and hyperpop to create a tour de force.
2) Devin Maxwell – “Megadrought” (2026)

Composer Devin Maxwell released his fifth studio album last month entitled “Megadrought”. His works are known for their elegance and chamber-style complexity. Currently an Adjunct Assistant Professor at the University of Utah Music School, his percussion performances earned him shows at Carnegie Hall and Columbia University. His work has been featured in video games and television shows such as Grey’s Anatomy. This album’s tracks are all entitled Cloudseeding followed by a number, named after the process of using silver iodide to trigger precipitation in clouds.
This week’s highlighted track, “Cloudseeding 14” features staccato guitar picking similar to raindrops and then soars with droning textures and open electric guitar melodies.
1) Dry Cleaning – “Secret Love” (2026)

Dry Cleaning is a four-piece outfit that alchemizes a blend of spoken word, post punk, and industrial into their own ineffable genre. Drawing comparisons to early free jazz and electronic punk greats, the group formed in 2017. Vocalist Florence Shaw’s performance finds similarities to female avant-garde 80s artists like Will Powers and Laurie Anderson. Dry Cleaning also utilizes a variety of tape looping techniques in their compositions. Their latest album, “Secret Love” was produced by baroque pop artist Cate Le Bon.
This week’s selected track, “Hit My Head All Day” is a swanky one, harsh guitars and serene vocals.

5) Sword II – “Electric Hour” (2025)

Sword II is composed of three multi-instrumentalists and is based in Atlanta, Georgia. The post-punk group includes Certain Zuko, Mari González, and Travis Arnold. Originally dubbed “Evil Sword”, the trio has released two full albums in 2025 (“Electric Hour”) and 2023 (“Spirit World Tour”), as well as one EP in 2020. Their sound comes from a wide range of genres and eras, pulling from the Atlanta DIY scene as well as broader alternative rock artists. Though the group is still new, they have already opened for artists like feeble little horse and look to perform larger concerts in the coming years.
This week’s selected track, “Halogen” is moody and heavy, with hazy guitars mixing acoustic and electric.
4) Venna – “MALIK” (2025)

Debuting with his first ever studio album, saxophonist Venna presents a collection of soulfully crafted R&B soundscapes. The London-based artist started experimenting with music at age 12 when he started playing the saxophone. His first big recognition was a Grammy nomination for Burna Boy’s album “African Giant” in 2020, to which Venna contributed. This was followed by the award of a Grammy for Burna Boy’s 2021 album “Twice as Tall”, which Venna also worked on. His music finds influence from artists such as Terrace Martin and Kendrick Lamar.
This week’s highlighted track, “Myself” features Jorja Smith’s glimmering soulful vocals with some gentle guitar picking.
3) The Last Dinner Party – “From The Pyre” (2025)

The Last Dinner Party is an art rock band from London, England that originally formed in 2018, though they only released their debut single “Nothing Matters” in 2023. Later that year, they performed at Glastonbury and supported Hozier on his tour. In 2024 they won the BRITs Rising Star Award. The group draws inspiration from Queen and St. Vincent and comparisons to Sparks and Fleetwood Mac.
This week’s chosen track, “This Is The Killer Speaking” is catchy and intoxicating, flipping between grungy bass-heavy verses and a freeing chorus.
2) Jordana – “Jordanaland EP” (2025)

Bedroom pop artist Jordana Nye from Washington, D.C. released her fifth EP in November of last year. Since Jordana’s first album in 2018, her instruments of choice have included the guitar, bass guitar, violin, and ukulele. Most notably, she collaborated with indie pop group TV Girl to release the EP “Summer’s Over”, which featured multiple viral hits such as “Better in the Dark”. Her vocal style is characterized by a dreamy affectation and relatable lyrics about the seasons of life.
This week’s selected track, “Blouse” kicks off with bouncy synthesizers and Jordana’s airy vocals.
1) The Beths – “Straight Line Was A Lie” (2025)

Hailing from New Zealand, indie pop group The Beths have spent their past eleven years exploring the ins and outs of joyful alternative rock. Current members include lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist Elizabeth Stokes, lead guitarist Jonathan Pearce, bassist Benjamin Sinclair, and Tristan Deck on percussion. On their journey for collective peace, the quartet utilizes serene harmonies and catchy guitar licks.
Our Gem of the Week is “Best Laid Plans”, which features an eclectic percussion ensemble with Stokes’s soaring vocals.
