Story Updated at 1:40 p.m. on Friday, December 19. Power has been returned to the tower.
At 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, December 17, KCSU’s radio tower lost power, taking the 90.5 FM broadcast off air. Concern for extreme winds causing fire conditions caused Xcel to shut off power to more than 115,000 customers in the Front Range area.
It is currently unknown how long this public safety shutdown will be in place for KCSU. An Xcel representative stated that 90.5 FM could be off-air until late Friday night. KCSU will provide updates on this story as it develops. Real time updates on the shutoff is available on the Xcel website.
KCSU is still streaming online on KCSUFM.com and on the KCSU app.
