A Week of Collaboration and Creativity
This fall, from November 10th to November 15th, KCSU’s daytime programming will feature calls for donations and highlight collaboration between our volunteer DJs. Throughout the week, DJs will join each other’s shows, bringing a fresh burst of creativity and camaraderie to our listeners’ ears. We’ll wrap up the week with our traditional 24-hour lock-in marathon, where live DJs will be in the booth from 7 a.m. Friday through 7 a.m. Saturday.
This Year’s Theme: The Wild West YeeHaw!!
This year, our theme is the Wild West. Volunteer DJs will be working in teams to fundraise against each other in a spirit of friendly competition, all while rallying support from our community. Throughout the week, we’ll also feature challenge grants, where generous businesses will pledge to match donations if we complete their fundraising challenges live on air. These exciting challenges will bring even more energy and engagement to this year’s DJ-Athon while giving listeners a fun way to help us reach our goals.
Our Fundraising Goal
Our goal this year is to raise $6,000. This amount reflects the current needs in our studio. We are looking to soundproof our production studio, match our production equipment between the board and microphones, and obtain tools to repair our live broadcast setup in the lobby. As KCSU’s mission is to train students to operate a radio station that delivers and creates content that informs and inspires our listeners, proper equipment is essential to fulfilling that mission.
Why Donations Matter
KCSUFM operates as a branch of the nonprofit Rocky Mountain Student Media Corporation and serves as a public broadcaster. Because we do not receive funding from traditional advertisements or business activity, much of what keeps us running comes from generous donations from listeners. These contributions help fund the diverse programs and content we produce. While music is our main focus, KCSU provides much more. Our award-winning news segment, The Rocky Mountain Review, delivers inspiring stories each week. We host and air a wide selection of podcasts and broadcast live sports coverage that captures the most exciting moments of the game. We also champion local music by featuring live in-studio performances and hosting free shows on campus each semester.
KCSU provides pivotal training to CSU students in media, entertainment, and journalism, helping them build skills in public speaking, teamwork, and business management.
