5) Maz – NPC
Originating from a small town in northern Utah, Marley Guevara, or “Maz” as she is creatively known, is here with her debut EP titled NPC. Though she has only been releasing music since 2022, Maz has had the opportunity to explore a multitude of genres, namely indie pop, electronic, R&B, as well as a genre-less acoustic sound. Though she is only 22, her music is filled with sonic exploration and influences from
music greats such as Blondie, Santigold, and Daft Punk. This week’s chosen song, “Kiss Kiss Boom” is an upbeat and bubbly track with electronic synthesizers and lyrics exploring a toxic relationship.
4) Perennial – Perennial 65 (2025)
Here with a new EP, New England trio Perennial blends mod, punk, and 60s art rock with an electric touch. Their chaotic sound can be attributed to their love for high-energy and eclectic style waves. Likening their creative process to collaging, lead vocalist and guitarist Chad Jewett singles out a love for 60s garage rock in the group’s catalog. The group is also composed of vocalist and organist Chelsey Hahn and drummer WilMulhern. This week’s selected track, “Tiger Technique (Cody Votolato Remix)” is boisterous and catchy with a danceable bassline.
3) Serebii – Dime (2025)
Serebii is the project of New Zealand songwriter and multi-instrumentalist CallumMower. A portmanteau of serenity and the Japanese idea of komorebi, which is the concept of light shining between trees, Mower’s work is a tasteful combination of electronic experimentation with instrumental touches. Since he started releasing his music in 2019, Serebii’s ability to mix and layer different textures has created a library that blends R&B, ambient, and lo-fi. This week’s highlighted track, “Might As Well Be Watching” has layered vocals and a laid-back aura with a bluesy chord progression.
2) Curtis Harding – Departures and Arrivals (2025)
Raised in Atlanta, Georgia, Curtis Harding has been a prominent name in the soul music scene since the early 2000s. Originally entering the music world through singing and drumming in church with his mother in the gospel, his adult career began as a part of a small Atlanta hip-hop group. Harding then made his way to perform on CeeLo Green’s 2002 and 2010 albums as well as touring. Over the years he has worked with Outkast, The Growlers, Danger Mouse, Lauryn Hill, and countless other hip-hop and modern soul greats. By far his most successful album, his second release Face Your Fear in 2017 made it to the top of the Billboard Heatseeker charts. His most recent album Departures and Arrivals blends soul music with influences of psychedelic rock and baroque pop in a space-age environment. This week’s chosen track, “There She Goes” is gorgeous and symphonic, featuring Harding’s signature comforting vocals and a groovy guitar solo.
1) Big Thief – Double Infinity (2025)
One of the biggest indie pop groups of the past decade, Big Thief is likely a name you have heard before. Originally a duo composed of vocalist and guitarist Adrienne Lenker and guitarist Buck Meek, the group released two EPs in 2013. In 2016, drummer James Krivchenya joined the lineup as engineer for their debut album Masterpiece. Their subsequent five albums were all positively received by critics and fans alike, shifting from Lenker’s singer-songwriter style to folk-rock and alternative. This week’s top added track, “Los Angeles” leans into more of a folk-rock vibe with Lenker’s wavering vocals and a prominent acoustic guitar.

5) flipturn – Shadowglow (2022)
Flipturn originated in the senior year of high school for vocalist Dillon Basse, bassist Madeline Jarmine, and guitarist Tristan Duncan. The trio built up their sound playing house shows around the University of Florida until they were joined by synthesizer player Mitch Fountain and percussionist Devon VanBalson. Releasing three EPs that tow the line of indie rock and alternative pop, the group moved onto releasing their debut studio album in 2022 Shadowglow and their most recent release Burnout Days from this year. This week’s selected track, “Whales” has a catchy wavy electric guitar riff and lyrics about the heart reminiscent of a breakup.
4) Glare – Sunset Funeral (2025)
Glare, a Shoegaze trio originating from Lower Rio Grande Valley, Texas, is here with their first-ever LP. Forming in 2017 with the release of their first singles “Blank” and “Into Me”, the group seeks to create intense yet dreamy rock tracks. Originally an emo outfit, Glare quickly moved into the alternative rock/shoegaze arena with their spaced-out and vast guitar tones. This week’s chosen track, “Different Hue” is an ethereal take on shoegaze with spaced out guitars and floating vocals.
3) Stereolab – Instant Holograms On Metal Film (2025)
With their retro-futuristic synthesizers, delicately hypnotic vocals, and catchy pop melodies, Stereolab has earned a special place in the hearts of indie rock fans. Hailing from England and France, their first EP was released in 1991. The group has always been on the lookout for a new sound, adding tones of jazz, indie pop, dance, electronic, and the avant-garde. This week’s chosen track, “Electrified Teenybop!” is a high-energy instrumental track with electronic synthesizers and a quick drumbeat.
2) Amy Winehouse – Back to Black (2006)
One of the biggest names in music of the 2000s, Amy Winehouse made a name for herself with her signature contralto voice and jazz stylings. Hailing from a family of jazz musicians in London, Winehouse only released two studio albums, Frank in 2003 and Back to Black in 2006. Her musical prowess earned her over 24 awards, including six Grammys and two NME’s with 65 total nominations. Her style pulled much inspiration from 60s girl groups like the Ronettes, leaning into the fashion and hairdos of the era. This week’s highlighted track, “Tears Dry on Their Own” has a classic, Motown-influenced sound with elements of “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough” by Tammi Terrell and Marvin Gaye supporting her vocals.
1) Momma – Welcome to My Blue Sky (2025)
Indie rock group Momma is back with their fourth studio album Welcome to My Blue Sky.
Originating from Calabasas, California, the group has spent their career tailoring their sound with fuzzy guitars and alt-rock lyrics.
Momma was formed in 2020 and is made up of Allegra Weingarten and Etta Friedman who both play guitar and sing.
Their tracks pull inspiration from indie rock greats such as Pavement, The Breeders, and Nirvana.
Our Weekly Gem is “How To Breathe”, a song that delicately holds the balance between heavy, hard-rock guitar textures and gentle vocals.
