We here at KCSU are excited about our semesterly fundraising event: DJ-Athon! Twice a year, we ask our listeners and community members to donate to KCSU so we can afford to broadcast and otherwise serve the CSU and Fort Collins community.
WHAT IS DJ-ATHON?
From April 14th to April 18th, KCSU daytime programming will feature calls for donations and a focus on collaboration between our volunteer DJs. DJs will be encouraged to join each other’s shows, bringing a fresh burst of creativity and camaraderie to the airwaves.
KCSU will also be partnering with local businesses Games Ahoy, The Lyric, Rollerland Skate Center, and Chipper’s Lanes to participate in some team-building fun. We’ll finish the week off as we always do, with a 24-hour marathon where live DJs will be in the booth from 7 a.m. Friday through 7 a.m. Saturday. We hope you tune in and would love to hear from you on our text-in line, 970-538-5278.
WHY THIS MATTERS
KCSU is a public broadcaster and branch of the non-profit Rocky Mountain Student Media Corporation, which limits the amount of funding we can receive through advertisements and business activity. As such, half of our funding comes from donations from listeners like you!
Your contributions help us fund the wide array of programs and content we produce. If you’re not already aware, KCSU does more than just music, as our award-winning news segment Rocky Mountain Review, selection of podcasts, and live sportscasts can attest to. We also support local music by airing them live in-studio and inviting them onto campus for our semesterly free shows. KCSU provides useful training to CSU students in the realm of media, entertainment, and journalism while helping them build skills in areas like public speaking and business management.
This semester, KCSU is directing our fundraising to eradicate the irritating buzz that you might be able to hear on our FM broadcast. We’re not quite sure how bees (or signal distortion) infiltrated our equipment, but with your help, we can carefully relocate them (or repair/replace expensive broadcasting equipment). In the meantime, our digital livestream is completely bee-free!
HOW TO DONATE
We’re looking to raise $7500 this semester, and need your help to do so! Donations to KCSU can be made through this online form, or on Venmo @kcsufm. (If you use Venmo, please include your email address in the transaction comment so we can reach you!)
All donors will receive a token of our gratitude, but if you donate $90.50, or commit to a monthly donation of $7.50, we’ll add you to Club 905, our rewards tier for sustaining donors. Club 905 donors receive our latest merchandise and a behind-the-scenes newsletter so you can represent KCSU with pride and keep up to date on the latest happenings.
As always, thank you for supporting KCSU. We appreciate you lending us your eyes, ears, time, and money as we strive to serve and entertain our community.
