The night opened with a local DJ Casey Sullivan, who wonderfully laid the groundwork of what the night would be all about. She used familiar sounds along with a powerful bassline to really get the night off to a start that would make it one to remember. The crowd was immediately entranced by the deep wub sounds.
When the next act Canvas took over the stage was set and the crowd was ready to explode. Canvas came all the way from Atlanta to provide this crowd at the Aggie Theatre with a wonderful blend of hip-hop, rap, dubstep, and bass music. This fusion was received extremely well by the crowd that both sang along to lyrics and danced like there was no tomorrow to the baseline. The lights were dim and looking around people around were all in, dancing the night away.
Ahee came in next with “brain-tickling” mixes of riddim, downtempo, and other forms of bass music including drum and bass to keep the action rising on the dance floor. Music flowing and basslines hummin like pure poetry in motion. The feeling of freshness to every familiar sound was pulled from various artists and backgrounds while given a facelift that made it feel uniquely like their own.
After all this great support, the headliner walked up to the mixer and the crowd was ready to explode, and explode they did. Champagne Drip brought his wonderful mix of soothing soul soul-searching bass music from “Eternal Now” and Me & You” to more heavy and faster-paced songs. The set highlighted diverse sounds while emphasizing how close and well these songs and tones of electronic dance music can be brought together to make a night that will definitely be remembered by those who attended.
Thank you to the Aggie Theatre for putting together this wonderful night and Champagne Drip, Ahee, Canvas, and Casey Sullivan for providing wonderful bass-filled music.
