On a Thursday night at the Aggie Theatre, right before doors opened, you could see a line outside in the warming up spring weather dressed up outfits ranging from comfy to dazzling ready to enjoy the evening of bass music. The glorious sound waves began resonating in highlighting a profound bass to be felt across the entire room.
The first act, Graymattr, began the evening with their sensational ability to make bass music appealing to the masses by incorporating sounds that are both familiar and unique to really get the crowd going. Ranging from melodies to heavier dubstep and even some sprinkled in riddim, Graymattr had the evening on a roll that would continue all night long.
Up next to the turntables and mixer was ill.banks. ill.banks picked up directly where Graymattr left off while providing a unique tone and style to the evening. Utilizing a set up of a full size turntable and unique mixing style ill.banks provided a wonderful breath of fresh air to the room and the crowd was chomping at the bit for. They used scratching segments combined with bass music that ranging from low toned downtempo to drum and bass and everything in between. Ill.banks showed the crowd how a new level of sound that resonated through the crowd and thoroughly enjoyed.
The stage was set and after two wonderful opening acts the headliner rolls up to the stage and TVBOO did not disappoint. From the very second he stepped up to the stage and took the mic to get the crowd energized to the moment he stopped to meet some fans after, the crowd was extremely energized and dancing non stop to the music. Using sounds of bass from across all sub genres of EDM and combining them with aspects of pop, hip-hop, and even country music TVBOO definitely had the crowd rocking without a concern in the world. His use of unique style, as can be heard on his last album “Daisy Dukes & Cowboy Boots”, resonated through the crowd and made it a lively evening that definitely left a core memory in the minds of the members of the crowd.
Thank you to TVBOO, ill.banks, and Graymattr for great performances and the Aggie Theatre for hosting this wonderful evening.
