KCSU’s news team welcomes you back to the 2025 spring semester at Colorado State University for another great semester of news. Starting off with campus news, Assistant News Director Audrey Donow delivers new information on the Associated Students of Colorado State University’s 17th session. There ASCSU had a guest speaker who informed students on what to do if they encounter law enforcement questioning their legal status in the country. ASCSU also passed with unanimous consent that Rocky Mountain Student Media fairly and accurately reported on an incident of blackface at CSU during the fall semester. More in ASCSU from Donow, looking at the ASCSU open house hosted by the student government which invited all students into their offices to discuss what ASCSU does for the student community. Finally, for campus news, many students may have seen something new roaming around campus. The university joined 55 other universities across the nation with food delivery robots powered by GrubHub and Starship technologies.
News Director Tyler Weatherwax delivers a story on a fire that occurred in Fort Collins and recently burned down two mobile homes. Local news also looks at a new children’s museum coming to the Northern Colorado area. The museum will be in Loveland after nearly a decade of effort to make it happen, the new museum will feature multiple exhibits. In local crime and school news, a Poudre School District teacher is facing charges of sexually assaulting a child in his classroom after Fort Collins Police Services received a notice from the school district of a teacher disclosing he had an inappropriate relationship with a student. Finally, for local news, a police officer in Northern Colorado has pleaded guilty over man slaughter charges involving the death of one person in Weld County while the officer was on duty.
For life and events, Donow goes over some of the events taking place this week in Fort Collins. At the Lincoln Center on January 28th, two performing sisters hit the stage. On campus, CSU’s library kicks off a new exhibition of posters for peace for students to get involved with. The poster offers a global view of how humans are all connected and offers a message of hope.
National news with Weatherwax covers the continuing story of wildfires in Southern California. After flames have devastated the area residents have been looking for rain to help with the fires. Rain in the area could provide relief but also bring concerns of flooding or mudslides. After the season’s first major storm came through the area remains fairly free of troubles from the rain with only a few schools closing due to mudslides and cleanups on the highway. Outside of the United States in the Gaza Strip, hundreds of thousands of Palestinians are returning to a war-torn environment. After the cease-fire deal between Israel and Hamas, many are looking to rebuild in the area. Finally, for national news, Donald Trump’s Justice Department administration has announced the firing of over a dozen members of the Department of Justice. Many were prosecutors in the prosecution of President Trump.
Sports at CSU have plenty to be excited about. KCSU Sports Director Austin Martin delivers the CSU sports report for today’s episode going over several sports and their upcoming events. Last Saturday, both the men’s and women’s CSU basketball teams won games. Tuesday and Saturday they play again with fans wearing ski goggles at Moby Arena for the men’s team. The CSU women’s tennis team suffered a tough loss but has plenty of opportunities coming up. Then finally get a look at what’s coming up for track.
To wrap up today’s Rocky Mountain Review ,Weatherwax delivers the Fort Collins weather report. Tuesday night will have clear skies with little wind. For Wednesday, skies will remain clear and temperatures will be fairly warm for January. Thursday morning however has a chance for snow in the Fort Collins area with wind in the afternoon.
