Clairo charmed The Mission Ballroom on Monday, October 14th in Denver, Colorado. From playing 19 songs with her band to having playful banter with the crowd over a beatle on the stage, Clairo brought a unique, fun energy to Denver.
Following up after the release of the album “Charm”, the tour kicked things off in Los Angeles in early September. With openers ranging from Paris Texas to Frankie Cosmos, Alice Phoebe Lou took the stage at around 7 PM. Lou set the evening’s tone as she enchanted the audience with her indie-folk ballads. Songs such as “Lover // Over the Moon” inspired fans to bring out their phone’s flashlights and lighters and sway back and forth, creating a visual of stars floating in the sky. She finished the set with her hit song “Witches” and had the crowd dancing to every second.
Once Lou finished, the crew began to set the stage up for Clairo and her band. The stage had unique lighting from behind and above as well as a green charm set in the middle of the stage; the color resembled a similar color to the album’s work. As fans danced and chatted between sets, the music stopped, the lights dimmed and the band took the stage. Shortly after, Clairo joined as she sat down and shared a glass of wine with her fellow bandmates. They all smiled and laughed as the crowd grew excited for Clairo’s arrival.
After finishing her drink, Clairo took the stage and began the show with Charm’s opener, “Nomad”. From there, her performances of each song were handled with care and elegance. She even pulled out some throwback songs, including “Flaming Hot Cheetos” and “4EVER”. Each of these older songs was played with hints of her newer sound.
Ending with her hit “Juna”, Clairo engaged the audience by having everyone sing along. The energy at Mission was magical, as everyone danced, cheered and interacted with Clairo. Concerts are meant to be special for the artist and audience, and this one felt particularly special to Clairo, herself.
