The Aggie theater was absolutely alive with music on October 3rd, hosting Fort Collins-based surf rock group Rosebay in honor of the release of their album “Luna Choreography”. The band was formed in 2022, and this is their first album released on streaming platforms. They hosted Violet Visionaries, Sex Wacks and Tonguebyte to open for the band.
Each opening band gave a spectacular performance in their own right. Violet Visionaries had an eclectic 60’s surfer rock sound. The band was incredibly friendly and engaging with the crowd, opening the night with fantastic energy.
Sex Wacks took the stage with a much more sensual 70’s rock edge that I found very appealing and their exceeding instrumental talent was exercised throughout their set, ramping up the excitement of the room.
Tonguebyte came on as the final opener and I can truly say that I’ve never heard anything like their sound. They somehow managed to seamlessly integrate punk rock, jazz and contemporary influences together into something new and unique. They included both metal rock and a cover of “Sexy to Someone” by Clairo in the same set, and neither feeling out of place is a testament to the band’s talent.
When Rosebay took the stage, they were a force, unlike all the bands before them. They had an incredible stage presence that commanded the crowd. Their style was reminiscent of true rock stars and their 70’s rock with grunge influences really captured the show.
They opened their set with “Like It’s My Job”, hyping up the crowd from the second they stepped on stage. The band performed 10 songs all from their album “Luna Choreography” and brought a ton of energy into every song from “Howl” to “Alright All The Time” singing about existing as a young person in today’s age and the fluctuating mental state accompanying it.
Rosebay at the Aggie Theater was a true celebration of music, with each band performing a memorable set. A true passion for music radiated from the stage, with each group bringing their own unique sound and demonstrating a deep love of music and a real bond. The musical talent in the Aggie was unmatched.
