Over the first weekend of September, Colorado State University women’s volleyball was at Texas Christian University to participate in the Fight in the Fort tournament on Friday and Saturday.
CSU won all three of their contests, all in straight 3-0 set sweeps. The Rams bested the Florida Atlantic University Owls, the Texas Christian University Horned Frogs, and the Florida State University Seminoles, who were ranked #22 in the country at the time.
The sweep against FSU proved a little history for the Rams, as it was the first time since 2017 where they swept a ranked opponent; that season they beat FSU and Michigan.
Paulina Hougaard-Jensen and Breana Runnels were selected to the all-tournament team, along with Katie Oleksak who was also named MVP of the tournament.
Thursday, Sept. 12, will host a new wave of challenges for the Rams as they take on in-state rival, the University of Colorado Buffaloes.
The two last faced off last season, in Boulder, where CU came out victorious 3-1 over Colorado State.
CU has yet to lose a game this season and have only lost one set, to University of California at Santa Barbara during the Buffs Invitational.
The first of two games between the rivals this season is being held in Fort Collins’ Moby Arena, Thursday, Sept. 12, at 7 p.m.
