KCSU brings together two things I love most: music and creativity. I am Sienna Gallegos, a third-year student here at Colorado State University studying management and innovation within the College of Business, as well as pursuing a Spanish minor. I began my first year at CSU wanting to get involved with the music and radio scene that existed on campus due to my previous DJ experience and word of mouth from upperclassmen friends of mine. After training, I began my first radio show in the second semester of my freshman year.
Since then, I’ve had an earworm for KCSU, constantly wanting to find more ways to be involved. I have had three radio shows since then, two with a co-host and one solo. Mostly, I like to talk about my current music obsessions and budding ideas that linger in my mind. I also enjoy keeping up to date on pop culture, trends and upcoming events. In the following year, I became a part of the staff cohort for 2025-26 as the development director.
In that year, I took part in the creation of two DJ-Athons, including a Western-themed DJ-Athon centered on on-air teams attempting to gain as many donations as possible. The following semester, we had a futuristic theme surrounding the idea of the future of radio and the looming threat of ever-changing technology.
I am excited to start my second year on staff as the 2026-27 station manager. As station manager, I have decided to dedicate my year to three things: values, visibility and good vibrations. To start, within KCSU, I want to connect our values of creativity, inclusion, collaboration and growth to everything we do. Expect lots of strong ties to our mission in every event, post and on-air program we produce as part of our ever-growing commitment to student voice.
Next, visibility is extremely important in every form of media, radio included. I want to bring the student perspective into any area where KCSU-FM is front-facing. MAKE SURE TO DOWNLOAD OUR APP!!! Programming can be found through the airwaves and streaming radio. In the coming year, we hope to increase app downloads and the number of listeners who regularly tune in!
Finally, I hope to keep up good vibrations this year. Think of the output of our station not just as a machine, but as a person, a body. What we put in and have internally will be reflected externally. To clarify, I want to make sure our station has lots of positive energy within our staff, DJs and community.
By maintaining positive energy within the station, we can ensure that positive energy is coming out of the station. Overall, I am ECSTATIC to start this year as station manager. Make sure to reach out regarding anything KCSU! Reach me at station@kcsufm.com.
