Related If You Like (RIYL) and Spinitron collaborated with KCSU and 11 other college radio stations across North America to bring together a college station wrapped.
On RIYL’s site each station has its own featured section where the results of the analytics from the spring semester 2026 are displayed. These analytics include top songs, top artists, top albums, total active DJ’s, total playlists, total artists played and total amount of unique songs played across the shows aired.
The individual stations portions of the website also feature a drop down menu to look at their favorite DJ’s stats. The individual drop down menus discuss the DJ’s total playlists, what shows they have been on, the number of artists, unique songs, their top artists played and how many times they played them. Scrolling further down in these independent reports is a “DJ Deep Cuts” section which outlines artists and songs that the DJ played exclusively over the course of the spring semester. The individual analytics also break down the decade spread of the songs played and finds similar DJs based off of content played at both KCSU and the other stations featured on the website.
For KCSU’s whole station analytics, KCSU’s top artist was Softcult and our top song played was their song, “Tired.” Though our other top artists include Sword II, Annabelle Chairlegs, Joyce Manor and Gorillaz. 41% of our songs were played only once within the analytics period and 64% of artists were only played by one DJ.
They also awarded titles to some of KCSU’s DJs. The Tastemaker title, which denotes a DJ playing the most songs for the first time on air before any other DJ, was awarded to our 2025-2026 Music Director, Ria Janapati, or also known as, DJ Python. The A&R title, which is the most new music played, was awarded to DJ Python. The Most Consistent title, which denoted the DJ with the most on air time, was also awarded to DJ Python. The Specialist title was awarded to MJ, which denotes the most amount of unique songs played by only one DJ. Lastly, The Connector title was given to DJ Downshift, this title denotes the most overlapped artists with the rest of our DJs.
KCSU’s spring semester features 69 active DJs (which does not include all of our fabulous cohosts that do not run the board during shows) and a total of 556 playlists. Those playlists represent the individual episodes of shows aired. We aired 2.3 thousand artists and 5.2 thousand unique songs.
It is an honor and a privilege to get to see KCSU’s stations analytics at a glance like this. KCSU would like to thank RIYL and Spinitron from the bottom of our hearts for their collaboration.
