On April 17th 2025, the Aggie Theater was packed with hip hop fans and those nostalgic for the 2000s alike. The moment you walked in you could see a crowd of snapback hats and sunglasses with white lettering across the lenses.
The first act up was Colorado’s own Hot Boys, a duo consisting of DvNvHppy and JG. The duo made the crowd come to life with their mix of ethereal jazz samples with energetic delivery of their raps. The group performed songs from their latest EP entitled “Hot Boys” with a playful energy, asking for specific lighting cues to reflect some themes of their songs, and having the audience engage by putting flashlights in the sky.
The next supporting act was California’s Mitchell James, who kept the energy up with high energy vocals and interesting samples that the audience could recognize. James brought on a few guests and used engaging lyrical flows to hype the audience up for the headliner.
Then, the moment everyone was waiting for arrived as Soulja Boy took the stage. He performed all of his biggest hits from, “Turn My Swag On”, and “Kiss Me Thru The Phone”, to his biggest song “Crank That”. From the moment he stepped into the spotlight the audience couldn’t get enough. Everyone was jumping from the first song to the last, you could hear voices singing along to the tunes for the entire set. Overall, Soulja Boy brought an unforgettable and energetic night to the Fort Collins stop on his SWAG tour.
