Crumb took on Denver’s Mission Ballroom on Wednesday, October 9th, and it was undoubtedly a show to remember. Within the gorgeous venue capturing Crumb’s enchanting music combined with gorgeous visuals, the audience was swept off their feet from the opening song to the encore.
Crumb is a Brooklyn-based four-piece creating hallucinogenic indie pop sounds. The band consists of main songwriter and guitarist Lila Ramani, Bri Aronow on synth/keyboard/saxophone, Jesse Brotter on bass, and Jonathan Gilad on drums. The overall band dynamic showed a mutual belief and understanding of the music that was being created. Each member was fun to watch, Bri Aronow’s saxophone solos being especially memorable. With a dreamy delay and other effects on the saxophone, each and every note Aronow played was completely captivating.
This tour, supporting their newest album “AMAMA”, featured unique merchandise. One piece to note was the “AMAMA” album cover quilt. The 60″ x 60″ woven blanket featuring Crumb’s newest album’s art was an incredibly unique piece, setting the quartet’s merchandise apart from other musical groups.
Arguably the most unique part of Crumb’s set was their visuals, unique pieces of art in a waterfall pattern backing the band grabbing attention from the audience. The tessellations decorating the stage turned and glistened with the lights, changing during each song, and differing their patterns for the start of a new song. This was a great way to accompany a band as mesmerizing as Crumb.
Crumb’s “AMAMA” is arguably their best yet. To listen to the newest release and see Crumb’s tour dates, visit crumbtheband.com. For more information on upcoming events at the Mission Ballroom, visit missionballroom.com.
