The Psychedelic Porn Crumpets are an Australian psych rock band known for their raging riffs and head-banging grooves that create a concoction of fuzz you can’t help but move to. They have had several major releases since 2016 including the two “High Visceral” records, all the way up to their newest EP “ Dilemma Us From Evil”. These records contain songs with playful amounts of specificity in the titles as the Porn Crumpets portray a story of ruckus and loudness.
I had an idea of what to expect from this show because I’d seen The Psychedelic Porn Crumpets live once before this show. In the winter of 2022, they played Globe Hall in Denver. I remember really enjoying that show and I was interested to see what changes would be made over the course of a year.
On October 10, 2023, they took the Aggie stage for an electrifying show. Immediately, the room was energized as they played their first song of the night. Having just seen Nolan Potter’s Nightmare Band open up the night, the crowd was amped up and ready to hear some more amazing tunes. They played classic fan favorites such as “Cubensis Lenses” and “Hymn for a Droid” as well as unrecognized new material. The set was well thought out with ample opportunities for loud thrashing as well as moments of more quaint grooves.
The audience was great as well – there was tons of energy bouncing off the walls and throughout the Fort Collins favorite venue, The Aggie Theatre. In the gritty depths of the mosh pit, we were dripping with sweat and out of breath. It was something of a release and we left feeling simultaneously exhausted and renewed. Overall, the show was a great experience and I will definitely be attending more PPC shows in the future. With tour plans through 2024, the Psychedelic Porn Crumpets aren’t slowing down anytime soon.
