The stages are being built, the amps humming, and singers warming up as, once again, the Sutherland Gardens west of the Lori Student Center is going to be transformed. On September 10th, the 5th Annual Battle of the Bands takes over, as 4 local bands go head-to-head for a spot at Spring 2027 FocoMX.
This year’s lineup brings a lot of musical variety to the CSU stage, featuring Midriff, Any Means Necessary, Kevin?, and Boy Sorority. Ranging from softer acoustic instrumentals to catchy pop-punk hooks and emo rhythms, it serves as a perfect introduction to the Fort Collins music scene for newcomers and a welcome fix for those who already can’t get enough.
So come by between classes or stop and hang out. In a world where concert tickets are upwards of 100 dollars, see what these student bands have to offer. There are no headliners here; every band has the chance to capture the room, win over the crowd, and, in the end, the listeners decide who they want to see again at FocoMX in the spring. Students walking between classes at the Lory Student Center aren’t just passive spectators; they are the judges dictating the future trajectory of the local scene.
The Music starts at 3 and will go till 6 PM. Come for your favorite set or, even better, stay for the whole time; the invitation is open-ended. Whether you drop by for a single quick set between lectures or stake your claim in front of the stage for the entire three-hour marathon, your energy fuels the show that keeps Fort Collins’ music culture thriving. Grab a friend, cast your vote, and witness the next chapter of local music unfold in real time.
